Playrooms that invite her to play.

The Playroom Atelier designs, organizes and seasonally styles children's playrooms for Bethesda-area families. We build little worlds with a pastry-pink play kitchen, a farm ready for morning chores and a reading nook under twinkle lights, so your child walks in and knows exactly where to begin.

We dress the playroom for the season. Christmas garland and stockings on the play kitchen, a pumpkin patch at the farm stand, Valentine's tea parties, then we pack it all away when the season ends.

Invitations to play

Little worlds she can step right into

An invitation to play is a small scene, set up and ready. Tea is poured, the hens need feeding, the paints are out. Children play longer and more imaginatively when the first step is already taken for them.

Questions

Good to know

What is an invitation to play?

An invitation to play is a small, styled scene, such as a play kitchen set for tea or a little farm with animals ready to be fed, arranged so a child walks in and knows exactly how to begin. It cuts down on dumped bins and screen time and encourages longer, more imaginative play.

Which areas do you serve?

We work in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, Kensington, North Bethesda, Rockville, Northwest Washington, DC and McLean, VA. Projects farther afield can be arranged.

Do you only design pink playrooms?

Pink, girly Girlworld rooms are our signature and our favorite, but we design for every child, including sage, neutral, rainbow and Montessori-inspired spaces.

When should I book Christmas playroom decorating?

Holiday installs fill quickly. We recommend booking by early November for a Thanksgiving-weekend or early-December install, and we return in January to pack everything away.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the size of the room and the scope of the project. Text us a little about your space and we'll talk it through and send you a clear quote. Storage, furniture and decor are priced separately.

Do I have to buy new toys?

No. We start with what you already own, edit and rotate it, and only recommend new pieces where they make the room work better.
